What a beautiful day. I thought this beat looked incredible in Winter but on a warm, sunny Autumn day this place is heaven. I trotted red maggot on the bottom half of the beat and thought I'd treat my new 4x4 to a trip down to the church. Parking here was so easy and makes the long slog back to the car at the end of the day a thing of the past!

Just like yesterday trout were first to the bait, some of them a very good size, one male fish of 18" put on an incredible scrap, I thought I'd hooked a small salmon at first! Two small chub made an appearance near the downstream limit.

The day was topped off when on my last cast I landed a beautiful 17½" male Grayling that fought amazingly in the flow. He went 2lb 3oz on the scales and is a new personal best. I was absolutely over the moon with that and it made the 3 hour drive home seem a breeze.

This place really is one of my favourite places on Earth, another wonderful days fishing at Cefnllysgwynne.

Very challenging day today river much higher than I anticipated, very hard to keep a weight down , only here a few weeks before and had a great session . No fish today , just a ripping take that was lost unfortunately, lovely weather though 20degrees in November! Fantastic!

Only 1 angler fished. Tough day today - 7ft 3ins on the river when I arrived at the peg. Lovely day on the river weather wise
Tried every bait "known to man today" but could not induce a bite. So have just chalked up my first "blank" of the season - It had to come and some time !

Blanked !!!!

1 grayling lost in the first half hour then nothing all day apart from one possible tickle. River still high and backside scrambling tricky.

Lovely day river was nice colour and up a few feet . Only thing I caught a deformed barbel due to being wrapped up in braid with a big barbed carp hook in its mount, which I managed to cut it free.

2 Barbel
