Two trout caught and safely returned without touching the fish. I was disappointed in a couple of anglers next to me along the bank. Obviously bait fishing, caught 1 fish, but neither had a landing net. They dragged the poor fish up the bank over the stones, then picked it up by the line where they then wanted a photo. They dropped the fish 3 times in the process. They then unhooked it once they had the hero shot to throw it back into the water. It rolled over, they then got a large stick and prodded it until it swam away... sadly I think that fish will be found dead in the morning. I then packed up my things and moved further down the bank... disgusted.... However, on the plus side, for my first visit to the fishery, it was great to see a vast array of birdlife. Fish taken on Diawl Bach and black buzzer on the washing line......

Slightly bad timing as the long, dry spell ended today and was replaced by windy, threatening conditions. However, it was still mild with plenty of insects hatching and fish feeding. Lost an absolute clonker which broke me. Must up my leader tippet from 4 to 5lbs. Fish feeding just subsurface on emerging nymphs which I failed to replicate. Stuck to dry fly and tried all sorts but without much success. I’ll be back!
