Well, we certainly arranged the weather for fishing again, seems the days we pick have been very wet this year. However the fish didn't seem to mind. Fish were taken throughout the beat on either upstream nymphs or spiders fished down and across.
This is a very well maintained beat with relatively easy access, care needed when wading as there are some troublesome and slippery boulders hiding away. It was fabulous to share the beat with an otter who regular showed but didn't seem to be bothered by our presence. Plenty of birds taking the flies that hatched fairly regularly but not enough to get the fish looking up. We had a great day but if we had caught everything we connected with it would have been spectacular. Nothing large today apart of a chub of a couple of pounds but plenty of half pounders that bodes well for the future.
A very enjoyable day on a smashing beat despite the rain.

Enjoyable evening session at Foy Bridge. I fished from 5 until 9.30 and used 3 of the available pegs on either side of the river. Managed to bag 7 chub, with the biggest being around 3lb. Also spotted a couple of barbel and large chub under the bridge on my arrival. Water level on the low side but plenty of small fry in the margins. Again a very nice evening of relaxed fishing.

Didn't bother fishing, area I was hoping to fish was not accessible due to fallen trees and lack of maintenance. Was also surprised to find another angle fishing when I was the only angler booked on the stretch.

Really miserable weather today with persistent rain all day as well as feeling a good few degrees cooler than recent weeks.
With the weather being as it was we decided to fish one of the very few swims that we felt we could access safely as climbing down a sheer muddy bank looked like a recipe for disaster in those conditions.
After a couple of hours of sitting in the rain and with no sign of a bite for either of us we decided that there were better things to be doing. We were right in this and spent a very pleasant afternoon in the pub instead.

Well gave my all time favourite wild llyn another bash today..... lovely weather too when I parked up by the boathouse at seven this morning.... just perfect, overcast and a good westerly, reading 12 degrees in my truck, bit different from last year, but I'm not complaining, the last few days have been refreshing to say the least ..... spent yesterday up at the lovely Nant-y-Moch reservoir, had two dozen beauties there to the net, and three double hook ups!!!... fourteen quid all day there !!!! Catch and release too ..... I think that amount is just about right if I'm honest !!
Anyway the fishing at Bugeilyn...... sublime !! I fished two wets here, as I always do , three is just a faff about with the squally winds ..... two of my favourite Bugeilyn wets did the business......again !!! Although with the westerly it brings into play the Christmas tree bank..... only a few locations there fishsble as I mentioned last time, the brandy bottle yellow lillies are encroaching into the Lake big time .... Iooked at old photos and they weren't there four years ago !! Needs a boat and a sharp Long handled scyth ... to cut them them off deep down, before flowers seed and drop more to then grow out further !! Shame really as that bank was always really good ..... hey hoy ... where you can get a line out , there's a nice thirty yard section .... plenty of good fish today in a tally of 29 to the net, may have been a few more ... fish ranged from seven to thirteen inches .... eight really good fish early bells too ....and I had a double hook up here too, fantastic !!! the intermittent sun seemed to put them off the boil, then when the clouds created the cover , up they'd come again.... Savage hits to mainly mh point fly .... fished just sub surface eoth a hover polyleader, beds them in nicely ....
A lovely day .... wrapped things up at three had a late lunch, then a slow bimble back to The Ponderosa .....another lovely day at this hallowed location ..... must get on the Edw or Cammarch over the weekend, get my river legs back on form !!!! Haven't been on a wild stream for a couple of weeks !! So that's a must !! Out in the Elan Valley on the mountain bike tommorrow .... so Saturday hopefully on a wild stream ....... Time for a cold one at The Lamb and Flag in Rhayader I think...... Happy days.......
