Was hoping for the best with the weather we've had but arrived to find it well up and seriously pushing through. Was on the verge of giving up but then had a flurry of activity early afternoon fishing in the downstream field.
Fished feeders with extra leads up to 8oz and still struggling to hold bottom but when it held bites came.
4 smaller fish, one of 3/4lb and the rest 6+ up to 7.10.
All went quiet but suspect that was something to do with the otter patrolling the near margin during the afternoon. Always worth the 2 hour drive!

Got there and the r8ver was over 2m and flowing through very fast, almost turnt round and went home, walked a little and found a nice slack in the margin. Had a bit in the first 30 mins and ended up spending 9 hours in the same place, ended up with 7 chub upto 5lb7oz (new pb) All caught on 14mm halibut pellet, switched to meat and had an eel so switched back straight away.

The best fishing was in the slower water close to the bank after recent rains put the level up to 7' on the Lydbrook guage a few miles upriver. Three barbel at 4, 7 1/2 and 9 1/4 lbs (a pb) and two eels with numerous fish lost in snaggy areas below trees. A good day in difficult river conditions.. All caught on meat. They weren't up for pellets today.

3 Barbel, 2 Other
