2 shad.
Fish came to grhe goldhead fished in faster runs.
Compared with a fortnight ago not many insects about. E g saw one yellow may in 5 hours on the water. Only two or three rises seen in that time and hooked trout on one of them with a klink. On and off v quickly.
Not too good a botanist but think I saw a small strand of ranunculus growing in the shallows. Hope it was.

We enjoyed our first trip to Bugeilyn. The track was easily passable with a 4x4 (and I would imagine most cars with decent ground clearance), the banks weren't too boggy, and the wading was fairly safe. The weather was very cold, very windy, and often very wet. We eventually found fish towards the top of the lake, with a decent number rising as the weather warmed up in the early afternoon. A couple of fish came to cormorants, but the others all fell to bushy dries that were pulled through the waves. They didn't seem that interested in static dries at all. Stunning little fish with beautiful red spots. Even managed a double hook up.

Caught on a PTN. Really tough going. No hatch all day so just sporadic rises. Don’t go through the wooden gate as the instructions suggest just go down the path to the right of the small house down from Ashford. The beat doesn’t have much character tbh. Also some posh guy in a land rover tried to tell me I couldn’t fish there. Didn’t help the vibe

Nothing caught, lost a little one, and saw no rises. Was a bit cold and had just rained.
Saw something very briefly appear from a gap in the bank but not sure on identification, could have been a pole cat or mink? Was very dark brown/black, 30cm ish and not obvious where face/chest?
