Hard day, strong downstream winds and rain made fishing particularly tricky. Very little rising, despite incredible mixed hatches. Took a couple of fish on a mayfly, the rest on the duo nymph. Lost a monster in one of the runs below the waterfall.

Four BT, one excellent broad fish of 17inches+ and three smaller of ~12-14inches. All taken in the faster-moving water at the heads of the larger pools. One on the dry (kilnk) and three on small PTNs.

Plenty of fish rising in the still water at the tail of the pools but (as always) these proved totally uncatchable. Floated most of my fly box overhead or past them under the surface (they were remarkably relaxed about that) but to no avail.

River already getting quite slimy with the familiar brown algae, especially in the slower pools.

As always was great to be back up at Bugeilyn, met with a harsh wind blowing right down the lake which limited fishing options. Very top end of christmas tree bank was the only easily fishable spot.
Very little surface activity due to wind but there was a short spell of feeding late morning. Fish taken on both wets, daiwl bachs and usual small black drys. A hard but rewarding day.

Fished from 5-8pm. Warm sunny evening. Two trout caught on the beat near the fishing hut on a dry fly (large olive dun) towards the opposite bank. A few fish rising, just fished the initial downstream part of the beat up to the hut as this occupied the time I had available.

Complete waste of time! All of the banks and I mean all the banks are chest high with grass and undergrowth and banks that are accessible are steep drops of six feet. This stretch of river should be removed from this site

Down to one of my favourites this morning , the lovely little Edw .... and boy she was a bit low when I parked up ... did contemplate driving on to Hergest but I wanted a challenge and it's a while since I've fished this one so tackled up had a chat with the farmer on his quad , at the field entrance ........ he did say the rain had freshened up the river and was running a bit better .... he was most interested in the wild streams ... good to see ....any way on to the fishing!!

Opted for a Para Greenwells initially which had the desired effect ... good takes to it ... also fished a D.H.E. some olives about and mayflies from half eleven .... a mix of fish this morning ranging from six to eleven inches ... the usual handsome Edw chaps ! And feisty too .....

A lot of low water so I only fished up to the bridge , a fun two and a half hours and warming up quick when I got out and clambered up to the parking spot for a well earned cold diet coke out of my cool bag !!!! Seven crackers and a few missed made for a fun albeit quick morning....... jobs at home to get done while this cracking weather lasts ! Perhaps try an early one on the Arrow at the weekend .... Happy days !!!!!
