Great day, expertly guided by Oliver Burch, always fun. Weather fine, a little cool at lunchtime. Wet flies, red tag and treacle parkin both very effective. Very little surface activity, did try a Grayling Steel blue dry after lunch but no interest. River a little coloured, as expected given the recent rain, running quite high but plenty of easy access on this beat. One nice grayling to 14 inches, lost 3. 5 OoS trout.

Beautiful day for it with the river on its way down but still pretty high. 3 beautiful 2-3 lb chub graced our nets on beat 4. No sign of any barbel though. Although the fishing was slowish the kingfisher kept us entertained all day.
