A good day to be on the beat in reasonably weather with the river slightly up. Managed to catch my PB barbel at 12lb 4oz. What a great scrap.

First time on this beat. Parking for 2 cars on the grass verge by the stile to the river in a lane with access only to the manor house, so safe. Easy clean grassy walk to and along the river which was just as well as I'd left a drying welliy from yesterday in the house, DOH!

Conditions were again overcast with a lighter breeze and with the overnight rain adding a bit of colour, prospects looked good. Started in the 3 swims at and below the hut. One chub on GB feeder and nothing on the float prompted a move for me down below my mates, to the first big croy, with the intent of running a float down the crease - that was before the thunderstorm and it DID rain!

SM had a chub and a 7lb barbel hooked on halibut pellet in the storm whilst holding his brolley. Almost immediately the river started coming up. I had 2 more chub and an 8.10lb barbel on a fishy boillie at 1410.

During the afternoon the river rose about 2 foot and the other 2 left at 1630 after a biteless 3 hours. As I was thinking I'd already had a good day I had the first of 3 late barbel on spicy sausage pellets to make it a great day before leaving at 1815. With lots of comfy swims and an easy walk we will definitely return to this beat. Thank you WUF.

Our first visit to a WUF venue been wanting to go for a long time and it didn't disappoint. Great mornings fishing before weeks rain raised the level by several feet in few hours and debris coming down river made things difficult. Before that we each managed 5 barbel each and a few chub. We fished in field below the woods.

The weather was patchy rain and some heavy rain throughout the day. Both fish were caught while ledgering (Barbel using a feeder, Chub using weight). Both fish caught on luncheon meat.

Typical British weather - the day mixed with bright sunshine, blustery wind and rain, with a deluge mid morning and I mean a real squall ! River started in nice condition with colour but rising and up nearly 2 feet by the time we finished. As a consequence of rising river and high winds, a lot of rubbish floating through which meant close in fishing for most of the day. One nice Barbel 9LB and 14 chub 2LB to 5LB, most of which came through the day close bank fishing on meat and pellet. A really nice venue and although our previous visit heralded a lot more Barbel, I think the conditions today had an effect. We will be back, although to finish the day hiking back up the path to the layby is not for the unfit folk !!
