For obvious reasons a first visit for almost two years. River in good condition, lots of new fencing and a few large trees down but still a lovely beat. I fished till lunch time initially sticking to dry flies to no avail - the fish weren't tempted. When I switched to a Black Magic nymph four strong, healthy trout were caught in the shaded riffles.

Sadly nothing caught as conditions were very bright and sunny, but a wonderful day had.

Water .57m and clear. Very warm evening 23deg and still 21 at 10pm. John and I fished the woodstream from 6 till 8pm. I had one offer and one trout of about half pound on the march brown spider on the dropper. John had two offers and no fish. I moved to the tail end of chine pool for the late evening rise which was quite good the week before, BUT TO MY AMAZEMENT THERE WAS NO EVENING RISE AT ALL up to 10pm when we left the water.
John had no further offers sub surface either. Maybe the week of hot weather has switched hatches to early morning?? Any comments welcome!!!

Walked from Vaynor Church up the beat since kids were swimming in the Blue Pool Bridge (can't blame them it was a hot day!)

I could only start fishing at 5pm and only managed to get halfway up to the beat's end due to tricky terrain and lots a fishing rising.

There were at least 12 small trout rising. It was very tricky casting with overhanging vegetation but I enjoyed the challenge to get a good angle and how it felt properly wild. I caught a brownie of around 4 inches but he slipped off the hook before I could take a photo.

Really enjoyed it and will go again but the access (in this small section of the beat) would make it uncomfortable for some.

Another very bright day,fishing was tricky again .a slight hickup as I forgot I had given the car keys to one of the other rods,he also forgot.I answered my phone in the river so convinced myself that's where they were.2 walks down the best revealed nothing.Jonathan Morris was with is and kindly drove me back to builth for the spare set..the original set then appeared from a pocket at the end of the day.guess who had to buy the first round in the Griffin

Very warm and sunny, water clear but low, tiddlers everywhere. No sign of anything trouty though fished until 20:45. Had two roach each. Enjoyed the day out though.
Appears to be no "official" access to the river at the Severn Arms footbridge, had to climb through or over the fence.
