I think the barbel knew that rain was coming the following day - river was low, clear and difficult. Eventually found a few small chub on the field bank, but couldn't muster up a solid bite.
Beautiful day though.
Canoes were steady throughout the day, and came through the swim twice, but no real trouble.

Thought I would have a final fling before September is out. Cold night and low water, but the wind turned round into a westerly, the temperature rose nicely. And .... nothing doing. Roll on next season.

Fished noon to mid afternoon. river running clear. Saw only one rise, and saw only one fish (the fingerling that was caught on a size 18 goldhead nymph). Military jets buzzing around (don't they make a racket!!) which may have put fish off (any excuse.....!). Still an enjoyable afternoon discovering another new beat - only joined the wild stream passport this year.

A short late afternoon and evening session. River low, slow and clear, but cloudy today so conditions seemed a bit better following a very sunny weekend. However, two chub, both around 4 lbs was my total catch.
