1 small trout returned and 1 parr likewise. Several more small trout hooked but not successfully landed. Not many fish rising. Czech nymphing successful in fast flows. A really lovely beat with very varied conditions - nice to be able to use the fisherman’s hut especially in the very heavy downpours. Thanks. Once again a big thanks to Fishing Passport for enabling us to access some beautiful waters.

A sublime session on a local beat ....Nice being back on the streams, having had clients on guided days on Nantymoch reservoir, and the Elan Valley Lakes, along with Claerwen Reservoir...Thoroughly enjoyable and , fab sport on the big wild waters in fairness....... Happy clients....happy days !!!
Dry fly sport all the way, as is always the case with Me on the streams. I feel after the mayfly, they are well and truly looking up on a daily basis !!! Lovely splashy aggressive hits today on this old favourite beat !!! Lost count after sixteen, but maybe a few more, not sure in fairness..... .. Also, a few long range, very polite trout self released!! So kind !!!!
Fish all between six snd nine inches ...always good little scrappers here .... Great bold takes to my dry ..
Half to risers, half prospectively cast to likely trouty areas ...Here they always take you by surprise .... bang nailing it just as you're watching a butterfly !! Oh well ....Great sport today
Looks lousy overnight, but, much needed rain to be honest ....Might squeeze in another stream tommorrow if it's not tooooooooo heavy rain, see how the mop flops !!!
Then, it's clients out again Friday Saturday Sunday and Monday...All on the big reservoirs, or mountain llyns . ...... lovely job!!! Right, cuppa time .......

hot and bright
a constant hatch of BWO and Sedges but no feeding other than the swooping Martins which made casting a nervy proposition
rose 3 and 2 to the net with prospecting the feed lines and shadier margins - successful flies were #16 parachute Adams and #18 Grizzly Adams

Had to work hard for them today, river up a bit from its recent low level, and slightly coloured. Fish were a good size in the main, with two of the grayling 13-14.Didn’t see a rising fish until late afternoon and mostly caught on nymphs.
The highlight today had nothing to do with fishing though. I was walking down from the gate and disturbed what I first thought was a hare just off the track, but quickly saw that it was a young adult Buzzard which, presumably deciding that it wouldn’t get enough uplift to take off, decided to play doggo barely 2 yards away behind a tree and we were eyeballing each other for a couple of minutes until another member rod quietly came down, took a picture, and we left it in peace. It had gone shortly after so probably wasn’t injured. Quite a privilege to get so up close and personal with a beautiful wild bird of prey.

Two smaller trout on nymph early on. A somewhat fortunate capture of a good one in the evening on a dry. Today was certainly a learning day: June is unlike March but equally unlike September.
