3 anglers fished this beat, the other 3 in our party fished upper backney which is adjacent. We found the fish in deeper slower water in the far bank margins, and they came to the usual pellet and feeder tactics throughout the day.

Hot with slight breeze. Fished the upstream faster water and landed small WBT on rusty Klinkhammer. Afternoon was dead but lots of rises from 9PM til darkness fell. Had half a dozen tugs at the tail of the bridge pool. One a very solid fish but lost it after a minutes struggle. It went deep around my feet, causing slack line and it as off. Used small pale watery.

Another great day at this beat. Despite a 6 am start, someone was already in the Lucky Stone peg. I fished the next peg down, lovely and shaded in the trees all day. I had caught 29 chub and two eels before the only barbel of the day showed up! Light feeder and pellet. A switch to float fished meat rounded the day off with another half dozen chub. The guy fishing above me had a few barbel I believe. No complaints though, an action packed day.

Another hot day! Better flow here and all Barbel caught were under 4lbs in weight. True what they say about this stretch.....a nursery for the barbel. Great day, and great to see some of the younger barbel for a change......bodes very well for the future. All fish caught on pellet and feeder tactics. 1 Eel

10 Barbel, 4 Chub, 1 Other

Area:Reservoirs

Beat:Usk Reservoir

Fishing:Trout (Stillwater)

No. of Anglers:2

Been fishing here for 14 years. at least once a month (while season open). Been here 5 times in the last 2 week as i had time off work. Not a single trout caught using fly, spinner and ledgering. No fish moving. Plent of perch. Aint seen the reservoir stocked for weeks on end. Really really poor from a reservoir that ive grown up to fish.

Area:Lugg & Arrow

Beat:Lyepole

Fishing:Trout (River)

No. of Anglers:1

It could be put down to to the heat/brightness of the day but in comparison to a day on the Arrow yesterday (same conditions) this was chalk and cheese. Despite plenty of shade, cool water, well oxygenated there was not a single sighting of ANY fish apart from a few minnows. No other aquatic life was in evidence. A beautiful beat in terrific surroundings but seemingly devoid of any trout (or other fish). Did witness either a small otter or large mink crossing the river a few hundred yards upstream of if Lyepole bridge....
