Lovely day but not a of of action. Sporadic, low intensity hatches but no rising fish. Finally got a take on a speculative iron blue dun - then lost the fish.

Yet again the big yellow ball in the sky was too bright. All we could manage was 3 grayling to 10”. Loads of fly life, and yet we only saw about half a dozen risers. It was a struggle, but once again, that’s fishin’.

A great day and the perfect end to the trout season for me. Quite cool in the morning in the shade, but it warmed up and became brighter. A good flow of crystal clear water, the level was low, but fishable. A lovely small stream beat, not as tight as some (which was nice), a really good variety. All fish caught on nymph below a Klinkhammer. Most fish were small, 6-10", with one larger. All returned.
