I had a lovely days fishing at Whitney court yesterday. My first time there and I was really well looked after by Terry Ward, a really nice chap who took the time to show me the six beats and give me the benefit of his knowledge of the fish holding areas and wading routes, thank you Terry.

Lost a nice salmon in the Island Pool. It put up a good fight, jumped clear out of the water and shook the tubefly out, what a shame. It was a nice fish, clean looking about 12/14 lbs would have been a good result after two hard days of fly fishing.

Arrived to a rising river with dropping water temperature, struggled to find any feeding fish, many small chub and dace trotting with casters. Barbel and chub taken from NT weir area on pellet feeder, serious snags present, expect to lose plenty of terminal tackle.

River up and clear couple of other anglers fishing, reports of fish running. Had A parr take a large hairwing double and one good pull could have been a trout but nothing after. Not much sign of fly life an only saw about half a dozen rises. Good to see bailiff about.

Did not fish as access to the riverbank is a joke £25 for nothing but hardship unless you are athletic and young I fail to see how anyone can fish this beat safely. Never again.

Day one: 16 pound pike. Day two: One small Barbel. We were informed that a Large otter is on your Beat, eating your stocks of barbel so therefore was not impressed with your beat. We never saw anybody in the two days we fished

1 Barbel, 1 Pike
