My first visit to the Lugg and wow - what a lovely little stream - not easy to fish though with many fallen trees and fences across the river. But these small streams are starting to wake up now and although there were few fish rising, there was a lot of insect life and the first few mayflies were starting to hatch. I caught 11 wbt all to a small size 16 DHE. Mostly 8 -9" and one a good 12".

River which had been low and clear, was up just a touch and with a touch of colour, small hatch of olives on and off between the showers, fished subsurface nymphs, 4 fish best one well over an estimated 2 lb.

River conditions were clear and low, but a good hatch of olives created some interest, however upstream nymphing with a GHHE was the most successful method and superbly conditioned fish took well and fought hard before being returned back to the water.
A beautiful stretch of water, had I been more in tune with my fishing I think I could have easily doubled my catch!

River a little bit fuller than the previous day on the Dinas beat after some heavy rain the night before. This beat has long flat sections in which there weren't many fish showing. All fish were caught in the faster water on dries and were between 12 and 17 inches. A beautiful setting and a very enjoyable day.

Low water and sunny, nothing caught but could see how it would fish well in the right conditions.

I fished this beat the day after the Wild Streams Open Day, and it is probably the best £10 I have spent in some time. Beautiful stretch of river, challenging but fun fishing. The water was a bit coloured following the previous night's rain, but the fish were there and occasionally rising. Two small browns taken on dries and released.
