Fished from 12.00 to 16.00. The afternoon started badly, chilly and overcast. As the time wore on the sun appeared from behind the clouds. Very little evidence of a hatch but the fish seemd ready to rise to my dry fly. I ended up with two nice fish at 10 inches, 3 more about 8 ins and one at 6 inches. I missed many more rises to my para Adams. A lovely stretch and a satisfying afternoon on the dry fly.
PS. It might be worth making it clear on the instructions for the beat that cars should be parked at the very far end of the parking bay - where the asphalt stops and the grass begins or on the other side of the road. I thought I had left room for the owner to turn his tractor but apparently not. The farmer was perfectly pleasant, but it might be helpful to be completely clear about the parking requirements.

River low. Many of the usual lies not holding fish and lack of flow and clear water made fishing challenging. This is a lovely beat though with plenty of fish, reasonable wading and sufficient room to cast. A steady mixed hatch all day. 8 wbt caught and returned, all on dries (pale watery dun and F-fly) most between 6"-9", one approaching 12".
I ended the session on the top section of the beat. Worth jumping in the car and giving it a go.

I can't comment a lot on the things like river conditions as we were fishing in the river for first time and also we are just beginning anglers. I've caught 1 brown trout on the black nymph just simply let freely it to float by the river current, fish was reacting to the dry fly but no success on this method.
In general it is nice beat there was not a lot of fish movement, personally found it very hard to fish maybe because not used to the rivers and the wild trout but its very nice beat surrounded with beautiful nature.
My strong advice is before you decide which beat to book is to read Wye & Usk Foundation Fishing Reports.

Perfect conditions early in the day with fish rising mainly on the flats. Difficult to temp but managed most fish on dries apart from 2 larger fish of 19 and 20 inches on a gold headed hares ear from the faster water at the top end of the beat. A very enjoyable day with my Dad catching his first wild river brownie.

I attended the Wild Stream Fishing Day based at Presteigne on the 13/05/17. The day was both informative and enjoyable with excellent instruction given by our guide while fishing the Eyton beat. Great value for money especially if you opted for the following day of individual fishing on a different beat. My thanks to LAFA and the W and U Foundation for organising the event.
