2 grayling, 9 brownies. Caught on mix of dry & wet fly inf. daddies. We found two access gates were padlocked, one at top end of beat to get access to the foot path, and the access to footpath in middle of beat near the bridge.
(WUF note: former can be scaled but builders should have left access to the latter- will investigate)

My second day fishing the Passport scheme this week, picked this beat to be hopefully different than the last (Llanddewi), and indeed it was, much wider more open but with more features than the beat photos suggest. From reading the reviews and beat description I had decided it would be an ideal beat to make my first attempt at French nymphing. I fished the whole beat from 11 until about 5 on a really hot September day, the river was crystal clear but very low. Throughout the day I saw no sign of any fish. I'm a complete beginner on rivers so my river craft is in its infancy but I fished all the most likely fish holding spots to no avail. I really enjoyed the day, the solitude, the scenery, the challenge of a new technique, everything I wanted.

Arrived late morning to find the river in good condition. Tried a few spots including the weir pool area but no fish showing until late afternoon when 1 barbel 7-8lb and 4 chub up to 5lb came in the space of about an hour. The weather was unseasonably hot with bright sunshine for most of the day, which I suspect explains the slow nature of the fishing. Great to be on the river though in beautiful surroundings.

We found this beat rather hard to fish. The long flat at the bottom of the beat was up to waist with the river at summer level so would have been very difficult to fish with any more water coming down, as would the streamier run alongside the walkway. Access from the high bank was difficult. Fish were rising most of the day coming to mainly drys, sometimes targeting a rise and other times speculating. Best fish was 16". SC caught what he is sure was a small sea trout approx. 12". JT spotted a Mink in the undergrowth and then climbing an overhanging tree. A good day with bright and warm sunshine which didn't seem to put the fish off

A very hot, bright, and humid day made it tough going. Numerous parr and 'fingerling' grayling were caught throughout the beat (counted as 'other' in the return). Very little fly life and very little rising, so we persevered with nymphs and managed 2 trout and 3 grayling between us. We found access easiest upstream of the church - downstream section proved too difficult to get to the water.
