I arrived about 9 am and fished the same swim as the day before. Conditions looked great but I had to wait for four hours for my first bite. Worth the wait though! An incredibly powerful fish was on which was eventually landed. It was a perfect, deep bodied barbel weighing in at 11 lbs 8 ozs. My biggest Wye barbel. That was followed by another barbel of 7 lbs 4 ozs. I lost a chub and then had a chub of 4 lbs 2 ozs. With about an hour to go the tip pulled round again and I was hanging on to what was obviously another big barbel. It was. 12 lbs 3 ozs! What a way to finish the season. At last knockings I hooked into yet another powerful fish which I eventually got close in but just as reached for the net the hooklink parted. It looked every bit another double which would have been incredible but I could hardly complain. All the fish were in perfect condition and now have three months rest from us anglers but I'll be back. Thanks to WUF and Don the bailiff.

The river looked in good condition, it had fined down and the colour was dropping out. We started at the lower end of the beat for the first couple of hours bit only managed one small chub between us. We then moved and settled in to a couple of swims either side of the line of trees that runs down the middle of the field. A 4lb barbel was caught on maggot second cast and a couple of decent chub were lost (cheese paste) within 5 minutes of each other and that was to be it for the day.

River at low winter levels and running clear. Pleasant end to the season. Disappointed that the pending sale of the estate appears to mean the beat is no longer available.

Nice beat to finish the season on. River in good condition. Fished a couple of unfamiliar swims which whilst snaggy produced two nice fish to pellets and bait feeder. The other anglers did much better but my day was a bit too short.
Thanks WUF for another great season without a blank. Can't wait for June 16th!

28lb cock fish caught on black and silver Flying C from right bank of Loxsters Pool Beat 5

Huge beat , lots of mixed water to go at , it's a shame you can't get access to 4, 5 & 6 left bank other than on foot , we had a injured soldier and he couldn't manage the trek hence we went round to Loxsters right bank which has been eroded significantly by the river , the wind direction and depth of water here made the fly difficult to fish so I got the spinning rod out 3 casts later bang, superb conditioned fish safely returned
A pool map would make a good addition to the notes received when booking
I may well be back !!
