Fished the lower section - needed more water to succeed. Not a bite all day.

Fab day. A great lesson with Jonathan Morris, sorted out my salmon and switch casting mistakes. What a pleasant instructor with great knowledge of salmon fishing, gave me some very useful tips. After all that no fish seen or caught. On the 15th on the town water several moved in the fly fun, great to see.

No fish today river still very low I only fished for about 2 hours in the afternoon.

River low and clear with bright weather. No fish caught despite changing methods and baits.

Fished for 3 days x 4 rods river low but wonderful thanks to don for advice and help. Only managed 2 barbel, 7lb 6oz and 9lb 2oz. Back next year: awesome place!

2 Barbel

The frost on the grass was a bad omen and so it proved, despite my best efforts in the wood and downstream I failed to get a single bite! Should have put a loaf of bread in the bag but never mind, never easy after the first proper frost. Lots of anglers on the opposite bank in the top field, I counted 7 cars parked on the river bank.

Netted one 12lb male and lost another 15/18lb in a weed bed after a spectacular tussle. Both from Dog Hole on a red fly. One mid day the other late afternoon. Both fish were coloured. Only a few fish were showing themselves.

1 Salmon

Arrived early with the mist still swirling down the river, a beautiful sight and a chill in the air.
Warmed up when we walked to our chosen fishing spot. Very quiet until mid afternoon then we enjoyed 11 beautiful Barbel between us and a few Chub. Stunning surroundings and a magical river.
