River conditions were about 6 inch over low water with a slight touch of colour, so good conditions really. A couple of fish were seen in Vanstone but dark resident fish that did not want to look at a fly. I was suffering from a bad back so only fished through until 2pm from 8am. A lovely stretch of water in a great setting, I will definitely be fishing it more regularly in the Spring - the canoeists were also a nuisance as the day went on.
Mick the Ghillie was great and alongside being a really nice chap was a fountain of local knowledge - highly recommended for any newcomer to the beat.

Fished for a few hours in the afternoon into the early evening. Despite a few fish rising they were uncoperative. Caught one of around a pound on a Grey Duster.

First time on this beat so some time spent exploring. Not much rising at all but persisted with various dry flies. Two grayling, 8-10", on parachute adams. Very pleasant day in fine, if gusty, weather.

Was very hard going during the day as it was sunny and clear water, was savage in the first half hours of sunrise, but really a hard struggle through the rest of the day, till sunset, where it picked up again, biggest of the day was a 5lb chub and 8.5lb barbel

Had a good day even though it was sunny and clear all day, loads of small barbel and chub caught throughout the day, lost a very big one very early mourning, and same again in the late evening! Best swim was the very last swim downstream.

After a rather cold start (we both had to get out of the river after an hour or so to warm up!)the day developed into a great fishing day. Despite the cold, 6 fish came to the net in the first hour from the 'flats' below the island. The others followed steadily throughout the day although disappointingly there was no rise to speak of as the light level fell. The majority were taken on nymphs under a Klink but a handful were taken on the dry, mainly casting to rising fish but the odd one on a speculative cast into likely looking spots
