First time on this beat and was impressed. Very nice area to fish. Now that's out the way to the fishing.. rain, sunshine, then the most horrendous downstream wind made my three weight almost impossible to use. 6 of the eight fish came in the first hour to size 18 f -fly then the wind strengthened. As I could not turn my fly over nymphed heads of pools picking off another two and decided to call it a day. Lovely beat, shame wind ruined catch return.

8 Trout

All seemed set for an excellent day - warm, some sun, good flow in the river, lots of varied flies out, birds singing, bluebells blooming etc. The trout were not told! Tried every method, saw only 4 rises and caught 2 of them at 9" but that was it. Frustrating (and humbling), but a nice day in the country. Two of the pools are now unfishable with fallen trees etc.

2 Trout

Excellent day, (thanks to the WUF person who recommended this beat - I should have got your name) this was a great beat with some lovely pools in beautiful surroundings. We had 10 WBT, best were 3 to around 1 1/2 lbs. We also spotted and cast to a few of over 2 lbs. The day was more like an April day with sun, clouds and showers, but consistently very windy. The upper wooded section tucked down in a valley provided respite from the wind, and was great to fish. A great day on the river.

10 Trout

River in excellent shape - falling and clearing. Caught a specimen brown trout of 3 1/2 lbs on a size 10 single hook cascade (returned). Thought it was a salmon... Lots of fly life into the evening, so put on a scruffy klink - and caught and lost a handful of fine trout.

Nothing to report.

Plenty of flies coming off but no sign of any fish.

A very cold and windy day, so difficult to cast successfully! We saw no fish, but enjoyed the scenery. A local dog walker told us that there is a brood of nine Goosander chicks upstream from the stone bridge at the first access point to the river....

3 brown trout, biggest 3/4lb. Very windy day, all caught on spinner.

2 small trout and 2 grayling on Greenwell glory fly. Lovely day.
