A good day’s fishing, my first time on this beat. Water looked fairly low and clear. Didn’t start fishing until 11.30am but caught from the off. Grayling mostly around 9 inches, with the biggest at 11 inches and a few 5 inch juveniles. Also caught a couple of OOS brownies of 8 and 9 inches. Used a French leader tipped with two tungsten beaded nymphs. Czech nymphs and PTNs with copper, gold and white beads all scored. The catch rate tapered off after the first hour, it was then necessary to move around and pick off fish here and there. Didn’t have time to fully explore the beat so a good justification to return again.

2 Trout, 22 Grayling

Conditions were ideal, mild weather, river had fined down and colour was good. 6 Barbel were caught throughout the day smallest 6lb biggest 9lb, all caught on ledgered Halibut pellets. Excellent day on a great venue, many thanks WUF.

Lovely mild day. River running a little high but could see down a couple of feet so not too coloured. No takes or fish seen unfortunately. Enjoyed the beauty of the surroundings though.

Was only able to fish for a short period in the afternoon due to unexpected work commitments. I blanked.

A days trotting produced 14 grayling, 3 over the 1lb mark but there appears to be a large head of smaller grayling in my catch this year, good for the coming years. With no rain forecast...where to go next week?

14 Grayling

Fished the lower half and though the water was at normal level there was very little moving. Fishing with weighted upstream nymphs I only managed to catch two decent sized grayling but as always, a very enjoyable day on one of my favourite stretches.

2 Grayling

Trotted maggots but completely blanked. This is a nice stretch but for much of it is inaccessible due to overgrown vegetation.

3 Barbel, 4 Chub

River at just under two feet on the Llanstephan gauge, weather dull, about 12 deg. Five grayling on weighted nymphs.

Upstream nymph/duo, river clear and reasonable height. x1 grayling, 1lb approx.
