Feeder method. River running high, cold and coloured with large amount of leaves following heavy wind, so not easy fishing.
Very enjoyable!

River was high and fast. Fished around the cable crib swim between crease and slack water mainly to hold bottom with 4oz feeder. Overcast conditions with a little rain. 7lb barbel the best of 7 fish plus a couple of eels. All fish on maggot. Excellent stretch with easy access.

Stayed at Red Lion in Madley - cheap and cheerful with good big breakfasts and he even made us some sandwiches for the day free of charge.
Much colder than the previous day with high winds. River was slightly lower than the previous day. Fishing very slow.

Had a great day guiding Ron on the river. He had some excellent barbel to 9lbs 2oz which is a new PB Wye barbel. Also caught was a 6lbs 3oz chub which was quite empty and would be much larger when it fills out later in the year. 3 eels all lip hooked, fought well in the strong flow.
The river was up and flowing well. Great to see the river like this.

We fished for 3 days, river constantly rising & the colour of drinking chocolate. Fished Middle & Lower Court on day 1. Had 1 eel! Disappointing. Day 2, 5.5lb chub, 10lb & 8lb barbel all on plain meat, 4ssg link ledgered in a quiet eddy. Day 3, 8.5lb barbel, 4lb chub, same method as before. Never fished the Wye before and will come back, hope the conditions are better and will maybe try early September before rains come. Would love to unlock full potential of this beautiful river . Thanks to the guy in a blue discovery for his tips.

Stayed at the Red Lion in Madley - cheap and cheerful - good big breakfasts and he even made us some sandwiches and filled our flasks at no extra charge.
River was coming down but only just within banks. Both fished with hair rigged pellet/boilie with 4mm pellets in PVA bags.
Large dead Barbel of 7/8lbs in one swim that had obviously been taken by an otter.
