River was very low and clear. Weather overcast. Very little feeding seen. A few fish viewed but they were generally uninterested in what was presented to them. One bite on a nymph, but not landed. Lovely beat though.

Another dry warm day, but the flow was reasonable, perhaps because of releases from the reservoirs upstream. After a long chat with Oak, who runs the Doldowlod caravan park and is himself an enthusiastic angler, we set off for the river full of optimism. In spite of what appeared to be good conditions, however, we struggled to catch and the final tally for the day for three anglers was only 3 grayling and 3 trout, the biggest of each at about 13 inches. They were taken on small dries and nymphs. The beat, however, is set in stunning surroundings, well worth a trip.

Staying in Kington I looked at the Arrow and decided I needed to venture further afield. The Edw is usually a great beat but I arrived to find it suffering from a similar lack of water. Two small browns of about 5" saved my morning. One to a PTN the other to a Klinkhammer.

Dry fly, water level lowish. I was a little unsure about access to the beat from the bridge. Challenging but enjoyable. I would not say that wading was easy, 3/4 on a scale of 1-5.

Fishing:Trout (River)

River very low. Sparse hatch of small olives. 11 BT caught and safely returned. Largest 18" (2.5lb). All on PT nymph variant. Great fishing despite difficult conditions.
What a pity it is to see Himalayan Balsam taking over on this beat. Also there is a serious algal issue downstream of the sewage discharge.

Difficult fishing with a lot of weed coming down the river. Only a few swims fishable with low water conditions. Found a few fish using feeder/pellet combination.
