Probably my favourite bit of small stream fishing. The river was high and quite coloured but plenty of fly. Fish rose consistently to barbless Mayfly all day, most of which I missed! Barbless hooks are a must if the quality of fishing here is to be preserved. The six caught averaged well over a pound the largest being a deep fish of over 15 inches. This is not easy fishing. Expect a hard walk, barbed wire and lost flies. It is worth remembering to cross to the right bank on the footbridge 100m below the house and ignore the pool below the weir so as to avoid any confrontation which has, in the past, spoilt my day. This is a long beat and missing out this short section is no hardship. The Kingfishers are amazing!

Arrived at 10am and fished on the A470 roadside. Had a couple of bites but no fish caught. Ranger was very friendly with some advice on where to try.
Left Reservoir at 3.15pm to return home due to Grandson needing the toilet. This didn't spoil our day and we are hoping to return to the reservoir in a couple of weeks.

Although river still high, colour has at last cleared. Poor amount of fly about for May but trout rising freely, probably `midging`. Concentrated most of our effort on top part of the beat and caught 23 trout all on dry fly. We worked hard to catch these as many were rising against the far bank. 2 of 2lbs, 2 of 1.75lbs, 2of 1.25lbs and most of the rest between 0.5lbs and 1lb. In all, a great days fishing.

A fine day in waders!
First fish of the day went like train and measured 18". 5 fish on heavy beaded bugs to combat the extra clear water. Broken twice by very powerful takers. The evening saw a brief hatch of mayfly and 2 fish taken on dries.

Lovely river and countryside. Fairly high water, plenty of fly life but only a few rises all day. Wet fly 1x12oz, returned.
