A few hours fishing to see out the trout season. Caught just one of 6 inches on a tan klinkhammer. Saw a couple of fish rising and spooked a couple. Was disappointed to see new power cables crossing the river over what had been a nice fish holding spot earlier in the season. A bit risky waving a carbon fibre rod around there now. Water the lowest I have seen here and crystal clear but an enjoyable session as always.

Nice day, fished from 10am - 4pm, all fish around 12" and taken on dry fly CDC Olive and Grey Duster from the mid section. Lots of fish activity and there are some big boys in there! 2 taken, I will be back next season.

9 x grayling, all 14-16 inches, 5 x trout 6-16 inches. A dark day without a breath of wind, mist on the hills and rain coming on during the afternoon. Water low and the pools very slow. A few willow flies about and some sedges later. To my surprise, the dry fly rod proved to be redundant on this occasion - I couldn't take a trick with it. Almost nothing rising through the day. What did work was very slowly retrieving a team of three traditional wet flies just under the leaves moving downstream on the surface after casting well across. Both trout and grayling then attacked one or other of the flies with surprising violence. Favoured patterns were Grayling Steel Blue and Foster's Yellow Bumble, both tied wet with hen hackles. The 16 inch trout, which was lurking under a tree, took the Bumble on middle dropper and made a nice finish to the trout season. A good day, even though my waders are leaking again.

One small grayling to a Black Gnat. All others to Sawyers Killer Bug & Stick Fly. A fitting end to an enjoyable season. "Wye Oh Wye"!

Low water and low skills meant only three small grayling caught.
I disturbed another fisher, a merganser ( I think ).
However the day was made when at around 3pm an imprssive set of ripples from an eroded bank under my feet resolved themselves into an adult otter which unconcernedly walked out into full sight onto the gravel bank less than 10m away, stopped and then continued on his way!
After that it didn't seem to matter too much what happened.

Quite a good day weather-wise with only a slight breeze and two light showers. River is still very low with quite a bit of streamer weed drifting through to make life tricky. Concentrated on the faster water although tried a couple of spots further up the beat. Fish came mid-morning and late afternoon to pellets without any bites or signs between. Noise and diesel smell from the water extraction pump is a bit distracting. This stretch is, for the most part, wide and slow with lots of streamer and might well fish a lot better once its had a good flush through. Thanks WUF.

Enjoyable, sunny day in the deeper water at the top end. No action for the first few hours. Then an enforced siesta, due to the unrelenting canoe traffic between 11am and 3-30pm. However, a quieter evening produced 3 nice barbel to 7.5lb between 5pm and 7pm. All action on pellets.

6 trout all on legered worm with 2 feet from weight to hook. Poly ball on hook to keep worm off bottom. Fished just by the house. Casting out about 50 yards. Rocky bottom snapped a few fish on the way in.

Water very low with constant weed coming down during the day. No fish landed but did get broken by a monster late in the day. Wonderful scenery and environment, in the words of Arnie, "we will be back".
