Morning spent along the NE shore on fly with two takes but no catches. Overlooked by a squadron of cormorants sitting on the tower pier! Two good 3lb rainbows in the afternoon on small Mepps spinner. A pleasant, quiet days fishing. Litter problem still a disapointment, especially the empty containers of power-bait along the shore.

River Low and Clear. Weather warm with long sunny periods. We fished Marl Bed, but due the conditions found it very hard going. PD caught 1 Barbel 4.5lb. AH caught 1 x 4.5 lb Chub.

The river was low, sluggish and relatively clear. The fishing was also a bit slow, however, after several swim changes, three barbel and two good sized chub were landed.

Tried feeder and waggler, lost one decent chub in weed, numerous dace and other small fish caught but chubb and barbel absent. Fished from 8.30am until 4.30pm before heavy rain finished us off. First attempt at the Wye so next time we will be better prepared.

Fished all the promising looking runs with dries and nymphs without success until I'd had enough of the rain and leaking waders. Very few fish rising.

An overcast day with heavy rain later in the afternoon. Nine fish in total. Seven Chub between 2 and 4.5lb, and two smashing Barbel later in the afternoon, best 9lb. Fished with pellet and meat. All fish on pellet bar one. A fairly small beat, river fairly low, I'd estimate only about 2/3 feet in most places, but a number of deep holes. Overall a great day's fishing.

River fished well in challenging conditions at times. This stretch offers a full variety of waters and dries, wets and nymphs all useful in the right spots (anglers staying for the evening rise on some of the smooth "flats" would do well to pack a few very small gnat flies - and be ready for a large fish!).
All fish caught were of good size - 1lb and upwards.
Have wanted to fish here for years - it didn't disappoint.

A stunning location and even with the river running very low it should be full of fish. We covered all of the white water with Klink & dink (PTN) but nothing at all, even in the pools which are deep and slow, nothing was moving and nothing was seen. We ended up pulling out three small fingerlings 4/5 inch's for a full days fishing. Plenty of Dippers and Kingfishers, we even found a dead dog Otter. He was fat and very dead so maybe he ate everything and died of a full stomach. It deserves to be full of fish, its a stunning location, well oxygenated water and long swims and deep pools. Unfortunately, like us the fish where off on holiday the day we turned up.
