Fished the evening from 16.00 til 21.30. No fish but did see several salmon, particularly at Triangles pool.

Sunny warm day and river in perfect condition. Started on dry flies and rose 3 fish straight away. Stealth tactics required and low to the water approach needed before the fish scatter. Enjoyed the day and the Monnow Valley stunning at this time of year.

1 trout caught on mayfly, about 12ozs. River looked very healthy, good flow. Fishing was hard though, with no other takes, either on dry or nymph.

River low and clear, wading easy as it always is on the Lugg. Access back to the car from the top of the beat not clear, ended up retracing steps along river to the bottom of the beat. A fine day with a consistent hatch of yellow mayfly, true mayfly and olives all day. Despite all the fly life, only the occasional fish rising to the surface and all fish caught on upstream nymph. Most success with a GRHE with a bit of life imparted to the movement of it. A great day out and I will be back to fish the evening rise at some point.

Good to return to this beat, and the lower water made it possible to access stretches usually more difficult.
The day produced 7 wbt between us, and we stayed late anticipating an evening rise, but unfortunately it didn't come.

3 wild brown trout and 1 salmon parr. Nice pleasant day, limited surface activity.

Beautiful day, took 3 WBT, two on PTN and one on an Adams dry. One fish 13" from a deep run on the nymph.

12lbs on fly today. Also 15lbs spinning to Mike Jones on Wed 5/6. After keeping its level for weeks,the river is now dropping fast.Presumably,irrigation has started with a vengeance.

Some mayfly and olives on the water. Caught 2 brown trout, 1 approx 1.75 lb caught on a GRHE emerger and 1 approx 0.5 lb caught on a Mayfly.
