No fish caught fished for about 2 1/2 hours in evening. Very little fish activity but plenty of flies in evidence.

River at c1`5". Two fish seen in Lower Rock am. In afternoon too bright for much hope of a salmon.

6 fish on Monday and four on Tuesday. All on spinner.

10 trout caught from 7" to 9". Slow fishing with few fish rising.**A small patch Japanese knotgrass seen on this beat**

After a really slow start to the season the river Usk was alive today, I was lucky enough to be Guiding two very good anglers, one of whom is and an England international river team member. The morning was spent fishing nymphs in the streamy runs and pockets at the bottom of the beat. While the middle of the day was spent dry fly fishing in the flats both top and bottom of the beat. Both methods produce good fish but the best fish of the day came from a deep packet in the middle of the beat. This Fish can be seen on the new Wye and Usk Passport Facebook page. Two nice trout, one just over 1lb, taken on Royal Wulff - both returned in good condition.

Lovely day. Trout rising here and there and very difficult. Rose two good fish, missed both. Only fished for a few hours. Should have been a much better day.

It was a day of disappointment today, starting with the difficulty in wading on the lower section including the impossibilty of using the bank to move along. So we backtracked and walked along the bank to the lower pool to discover two anglers spinning. A quick call to the Foundation confirmed spinning is not allowed, so they made a call to inform the owner of the other bank. No fish caught or seen to rise, so we made our way systematically upstream to discover another angler fly fishing the waterfalls, so no fish caught or seen to rise here either. Which left just the middle section for us to fish. Over the whole day only 5 or 6 fish were seen to rise and none were tempted. So like I said a very disappointing day overall with all four rods having dry nets. There were small numbers of mayflies hatching and the ocassional olive drifting by, but I suppose you can't expect anything other than a poor day when seven anglers are sharing 3/4 mile of water. Needless to say we won't be rushing back any time soon.

WUF note - On recieving your phonecall we immediately phoned the land owner opposite and it appears the water is fished by a local club. We have subsequently contacted the club and informed them that their anglers are spinning out of season. They promise to monitor the situation.

River above summer levels but clear. Quite a few flies about and caught most to rising fish on dry fly, biggest 16in.
Great to see such a well maintained fishery with sturdy stiles and bridge. Will definitely be back.
