Another brilliant day. Sun shining, still an easterly breeze making things difficult. Six on nymphs and two on a dry. Saw two otters at the bottom of the beat - highlight of the day - apart from first fish on dry which took me 30 mins to get into position and catch it - very tricky lie across a large open water with too much wind. Very little rising ( apart from the fish above) some olives coming off and odd March Brown.

Easterly breeze didn't help. Water was running lower than expected. No fly hatches. Only one feeding rise seen. Prospecting in the pockets and foam lines with #16 hi-viz parachute adams brought a couple of fish up.

Unfortunate the beat seemed empty of fish. We only saw two fish the whole day despite a huge hatch along most of the bottom end of the beat in early afternoon. We saw a heron several times on the beat and locals confirmed the presence of an otter in lower sections. Much of the beat was in accessible due being over grown and it took us a while to figure out how to access the far bank which had the better fishing. Top and bottom ends of the beat seemed in accessible due to over grown banks and too deep to wade.
