Water continues to settle and clear beautifully. Marginally warmer than last week (though colder than the weekend) and with some flies hatching it felt like I was in with a chance. Stopped when canoes came down in force.

14.00pm to 18.30pm. River in excellent condition and slightly overcast sky. 2 Salmon, approx 10 and 12lbs plus 1 kelt in poor condition of approx 30in. All fish released in water without netting. The 2 salmon I suspect of group moving upstream as each area both caught I had each covered extensivly only half hour previously. 12lber from just above Little Willow below steel steps and 10lber upstream 1hr later from middle of Leggs Meadow. Both salmon on quite large black/yellow flying c.
Kelt from shallow eddy in wooded section on small Rapala plug followed in and took right under rod tip! I think that is 4 salmon today from Don Macer-Wright waters. Large springers around with these smaller fish also. No surface activity seen.

A fishless but enjoyable day. It felt like the water was still a few inches too high and all the 4 fish seen appeared to be travelling. The beat has some 1st class fly water, plenty of holding water and has obvious potential. There is more than enough water to keep 4 rods entertained for a day. Wading the salmon rock under the shadow of the Severn Sisters was a stunning experience.

No fish caught but lovely beat and a very enjoyable day. Thanks to Adam for showing me around and certainly putting me in the right place going by catches the following day - that's just fishing! WIll certainly be back here again and will be using WUF booking office - very impressed. Thanks to all involved.

After Rene Alleyne caught his 22lb fish from the Alders Legg meadow yesterday I fished from the far bank on Home and had a 25lb fish much the same place on flying c and then fished up the Legg meadow pool and through the Pumping station pool and had an 18 pounder top end just below Wyelands on the opposite bank and below the metal boat mooring. Fabulous fish.

A successful day. In the morning an 11lb salmon from Crib Hole and in the afternoon a 20lb fish from just above the hut. The latter took forty five minutes to persuade into the net! Both were on a 1.5inch yellow and black tube fly on a sinking tip attached to an intermediate line. A 20lbs Springer on a fly - a deathbed memory.

Blank as far as springers were concerned, but an interesting and pleasant day all the same. 2 x very well mended kelts, both at 34 inches, taken by spinning - if I read the map correctly - Smoke House and Four Oaks pools, plus several hefty trout at the bottom end. Fresh salmon were seen moving in a number of places including at least one twenty. There is a lot to learn about this beat, which hasn't been fished seriously for salmon for a long time. Many thanks to Adam Fisher for inviting me to fish the owner's rod.
