Arrived at venue to find water level reasonably low and very clear. We settled into swims in the meadow at the lower end and tried a variety of methods and baits catching 2 trout and 2 grayling. MC moved peg in afternoon a little upstream in meadow which resulted in 2 barbel mid and late afternoon both to pellet. Lovely looking venue and good access to most pegs.

One 3.5lb chub on pellet, a few missed bites but generally slow possibly due to weather turning quite cold. River flowing well through mid section and reasonably clear considering recent rainfall.

River still low and clear and weather just holding at about 10c. No barbel at all from the meadow. Very difficult fishing due to leaf fall. The Easterly wind ensured the trees dumped them on our side of the river. Ventured down to the wooded section and C caught two lovely chub of 4lbs and a beautiful one of 4lbs 14oz in about 45 mins. Difficult fishing again due to leaf fall. Still a very enjoyable couple of days in C's company.

Fished for a few hours (oh all right then, a mere 2 ½ hours) on Friday. There were a few fish rising at the lower end, just above the Pumping Station pool, and the other fish came from Orchard. We had 8 or 9 grayling and one trout. Most action to a dry fly rather than a nymph. Water temperature was 50F.

13.30 to 15.00hrs. Island showing now but still good 15 inch of water to Summer level. Target the Chub with C-pin and 18ft trotting rod, 6lb line, chubber float to size 12 hook with 3 maggots and same loose fed. Directly below entry to Wyebank standing back and using length of rod, dropped line in just under bank in about 15 inch of depth. Took 2 Chub, one weighed at 4lb 2oz other around 3lb. Moved to bottom pool and waded out, same tackle for 2 more Chub of around 3lb. 15.00 to 17.15 moved to Courtfield beat. 100yds above Pub, waded out and long (40yds) trot right down under trees to submerged croy. 3 chub, first weighed at 5lb 7oz and others at around 3lb. Interesting battle with the large Chub at that range on long rod! Chub in excellent condition and full bodied, the 5lb was unusually deep bodied and dark for Wye Chub. Wye clearing and dropping, both Beats should ideal for trotting next week.
Note. In Elan area last week and all dams full and overflowing. Never seen all overflowing before at Winters end let alone Summer so where is the Winter rain and snowmelt going? Straight in the Wye!

Trotted maggots (red most successful) accounted for over thirty grayling, of which three were over two pounds. A few WBT caught as well. First time at this beat. We will be back.

We turned up to fish this stretch for the first time. Having read some of the earlier catch reports that said this was a difficult section to fish we were surprised to find this was not the case. The walk down from the upper car park area was a bit tricky due to the narrow flight of concrete steps so wouldn't recommend this access for the less physically able. We didn't check out the lower access as its on a 4 hour parking limit. Anyway the fishing was good, we had 8 barbel between the 2 of us to 8lb on pellet. It was a bit snaggy as usual for the Wye but not the worst we have experienced. We would return to this stretch in the future.

Beautiful setting, very peaceful and tranquil. Unfortunately no fish and didn't see any either. Nice day out though.
