Weather was awful, 10 degrees and rained all day. The river had risen slightly the night before so the water was carrying some colour. Not a great day for a hatch, but a few flies tried their best. Nothing much showing so the fishing was limited to exploring with nymphs. 2 trout finally obliged, the best was just over 1lb.

Perfect river conditions but cold and raining. Beautiful spot. 1 small trout landed and returned but had we been proper fishermen we would have caught more.

2 brown trout (1 approx 1.5 lb and 1 approx 0.5 lb), both caught on dry GRHE size 16. Lost several other fish which took a Light Cahill dry size 12, which were rising to a pronounced hatch of what appeared to be Yellow May duns. Very enjoyable sport, despite the drizzle for much of the day.

First time on this beat, although it was obvious after 24 hours of rain that the water level was up and pushing through just that bit too much. Plenty of nice looking runs but difficult to fish the boiling water properly. Eventually fished back to the starting point where the water was a little steadier in the large pool at the top of the gravel bar. Here were one or two rises that revived hope. Fishing a klinkhammer resulted in just one trout of 10 inches followed by a smaller one that got off. Three out of season grayling also caught, largest 13 inches. Very satifying end to the day considering I thought I would blank.

plenty of fly life on this lovely piece of water but few rising fish. water was quite low but had a strange milky tinge. two trout caught on ptn and Adams dry fly. Great day and I would fish it again. Extension of beat is very useful especially 200 yard stretch below top weir.
