Managed to grab a few hours fishing late morning before the river started to rise. Had one fish of 18inches on a klinkhammer and four smaller fish around 8inches. Briefly connected to several fish on a GRHE but failed to land any.

River coloured with Ithon water. Would have been a wash off but the large number of running salmon apparent kept you plugging away. Saw 20 or so show in two runs down the gravel catch alone. A mix of fresh run salmon and grilse and a few big coloured springers.

3 very small trout, all returned. Water rising and by late afternoon it was nearly too high for fly fishing. I will come again, a nice water to fish in better conditions.

Fishing in the worst rainfall imaginable seemed like madness but managed 3 hours between 2pm and 5 pm and was rewarded with 4 fish the biggest being a Wye PB at 11lbs 4oz before the banks became too dangerous to land and return fish.
Thanks to the WUF for all the terrific work they have done on this stretch.

My prefered part of the beat at the bottom end was flooded so I fished the last swim on the high bank. I had 8 barbel to 9lb, all caught on halibut pellet and soft spicy sausage soft pellets. The river turned a chocolate colour at 5 o clock and then rose 10ft in the next 12 hours.

No Salmon although one good fish lost, snapped flyline leader. 2 Brownies to Salmon Lures 12oz & 1lbs both returned.
Meeting another vehicle halfway down the track to the parking would be interesting!

Seven Barbel all between 7lb and 9lb. Needed large feeders to hold bottom with hemp and 3mm pellets. All fish on pellet. Sun came out and a very pleasant afternoon and evening. Cardiac Hill not as bad as I remembered. A beautiful venue, fished the first field and the Croy was three feet under water.
