A couple of hours teaching a 10 year old to trot. The run off from Wyebank crib seemed ideal. A bit slow for first hour but chub, trout, dace gave consistent sport after a pint of maggots worth of steady loose feeding. Many thanks to Tim for being so accommodating.

Wind! 1 grayling 14ins & 1 trout 10ins, 1 wrench of the wrist from something big, angry & hungry! The Wye is heaven for any fisherman but please someone let me through the gates. Fish rising everywhere today but wind made it hard work and today that wasn't why I was there. One day I will go it won't be windy, rising, freezing or in drought, keep rattling the gate!

Nothing but an out of season brownie on nymphs - all fish taken on a light brown klinkhammer at close range - fantastic sport watching the grayling rising and missing and taking the flies. Lost 2 decent fish, one was certainly 1 and a half lbs. Amazing river - it still moves me now thinking about it.

2 chub 3lb and 5lb 5oz. 13 barbel 1/2lb - 10lb 11oz, all on pellet. 13 fish caught from 2.45-5.15pm and 2 at dusk. I must apologise - think I left some litter in the last peg in the woods. Could someone please take it home for me?

A wonderful day on the Irfon. River level at Cilmery showed 0.5 m yesterday (Friday), however there may have been a little rain overnight as the river was flowing well, but clear. 6 very fit Grayling to the net, 3 on the dry, a Red Tag, and 3 czech nymphing with pink shrimps. The best fish was a real " boaster" at 16.5 inches! 1 out of season brownie, also on the Red tag. All fish safely returned.

Great autumnal days fishing, a tad windy perhaps making line control difficult and the leaves were a pain, but the grayling were eager to please.
A few olives and sedges were evident through most of the day and the grayling were happy to rise to these, both in the run and pools.
The grayling responded to most tactics dry fly, nymphs and bugs, with the deeper fished nymphs taking the better fish. Best fish around 40cm.
