The river appeared to be in superb condition - very clear.
The day was ideal - warming up after the cold spell and with light cloud cover. The only down side was the lack of fish. Nymphs and a variety of dries failed to produce any results and so no fish taken. Neither of us managed to see any fish either - which given the clarity of the water is a concern. Is it predated out? I note, now, the comments about goosanders and otters.

Alas no salmon seen or hooked. Nice beat with some good fly water. Wish I'd taken a trout rod, there was a really good hatch at mid morning and the river alive with good sized browns. Lots of potential, will be back later in the month, when hopefully there'll be a few fish about.

Arrived at about 11 and spend a wonderfuil morning practicing my casting when a decent rise of LDO or March Browns (entymology not my forte')emerged at about 12:30 no sign of fishy activity until i got out of the water for a spot of lunch when the surface came alive with trout a-leapin and a-gambolling all over the place in the area around the 'Quarry'.
Refastened waters etc and strode purposefully off towards potential quarry(pun?)and by the time I launched first cast the whole area died - so went back to casting practice.
I did have a very pleasant day and will continue to do so in the future I am sure, and one day may catch something

Fished from 8am until 1pm on various nymphs with no success. There were two elderly gentleman fishing the other bank with spinners wasn't aware that was allowed at this time of year.
Lovely beat just didnt see or touch a fish. Hopefully will come back again with more success.
