We caught two Barbel to 7lb 8oz and five chub to 4lb all caught on Richworth new Martin Bowler Xtractor Barbel baits due for release in January. This was our first visit to the Wye and what a stunning fishery, we will be back soon, many thanks to the Foundation and Adam for your help.

Only second time booking through WUF so still a bit unsure of the Beats. In the end plumped for Whitney court and arrived just befor dawn. Sun came up to reveal a stunning location and was very satisfied with our choice. Day couldn't have started better with both rods landing a 4lb chub within 15 minutes however I then didnt have another bite for approx 3 hours and only then once I had moved swims. Father in law was catching chub regularly. Decided to do a bit of spinning for pike for the first time ever and to my amazement hooked into a fish on my first cast. However what was revealed when it came to the surface really was not prepared for. A salmon of around 10lb. This totally outweighed the fact that my father in law had left me standing on the coarse fish front. No other fish on the spinner so returned to the feeder and pellet to land another 3 chub. No barbel unfortunately but my most satisfying days fishing ever. A big thanks to the staff in the booking office for helping me to choose our beat and a massive thanks to Ian for his advice and time to walk the bank.
P.S They really should renovate the converted stables for letting out. I would certainly hire it for a weekend

Back for our third fish of the year. Again a small problem with booking but easily sorted by phone. The fishing was very hard probably due to the cold snap and only one fish connected with and promply lost. Excellent weekend and great to spend time with Don and Rudi on this incredible fishery. Simon arrived as we were leaving to fish for dace with his family and rounded the weekend off nicely. We will be back.

Just fished the top end in strong winds and in bright and intermittent sunshine for much of the day. Some olives showed either side of midday with some fish rising before, during and after these appeared. Given the strong upstream wind, line control was seriously dodgy for bugging, and trying to see small flies (which is what they seemed to be taking) in the creases and leaf litter was nigh impossible. Ended up with about a dozen trout and grayling (of mainly 12-13"), all on small emergers, GS Blue and Red Tag. Didn't have too much success Czech nymphing with various pink bugs, but picked up a few graylets on a tiny pink shrimp whilst fishing duo. A tough day but isn't it a lovely place!

River very low, and according to a dog walker a little further on from the end of the beat, the river is completely dry. No Grayling caught or seen, but 8 WBT to hand and lost as many at the take. The fishing is extreme to say the least, for once again it is in need of some serious attention, trees across the river etc. blocking progress! so had to clamber out only to hole my waders on the fence, back to my vehicle to effect a repair which worked, the stretch which is shown on the map as a straight is alongside a golf course, and the owners have cut down and pollardised trees which the debris is now in the river, so nymphing becomes impossible. Never mind the whinge had a lovely day all the same, and 8 fish all though out of season was still not bad. As for waders I use Bison waders, also the boots, and find them fantastic at the price, and more expensive models still don't like barbed wire. Waders from fishing mad. com and they don't leak.

Windy day, sun shine and showers - fished middle of beat from first wooded area upstream to weir. Caught 18 fingerling Grayling largest 5" and 4 OS WBT. Klink hammer and PTN (size 18) on dropper. At one point cattle had entered the river for at least 300 mtrs ruining any chance of fishing; the lack of fencing to keep the animals out will have a longer term impact on this section of the river

Unfortunately we didn't manage any of the grayling, but did manage 3 out of season brown trout all around the 1lb to 1 1/2lb mark and dropped many, many more. All the fish were safely returned. Fishing small heavy bugs, a heavy weight ptn working well. Thank you for a trouble free and enjoyable day. We will be back soon.
