Got up at 4am anticipating another scorchio. Fishing by 5.45am. Gave Rock and Upper Rock a good going over with the double hander. No fish seen, then one 18-20 pounder showed a couple of times under the trees between Chine and Woodstream. Tried in the shade with a shrimp [impossible to reach with a fly] but no interest shown. Gave up at 2pm with temperature rocketing. Last seen falling asleep on a lounger at 5pm with beer in hand. Till another dawn!

Beat:Lower Grywne Fawr

Fishing:Trout (River)

No. of Anglers:1

2 small wild brown trout both under 6 inches long to a weighted ptn. River was clear and in good condition. There is a dead sheep in the water at the start of the beat. Very few rising fish and only a minimum of insect life. Superb setting for an afternoon and evening of fishing and watching the buzzerds and dippers. There is a red kite but I didn't see it.

There was no salmon caught just one pluck in the upper beat on a Cascade but it might have been a larger trout (five other trout landed all returned). Very nice beat but difficult acces in a large SUV. The Foundation provided all necessary details and your services, most important the fact that even from abroad such a nice beat can be reservated at little cost are to be recommended. Two little points, I like the beat to be controlled as it is the case in most countries. The second point, at 9pm on the opposite site of the river, not replying any greeting, a local boy with cowboy hat, spinning gear and net at hand was screening the bank of rhe river and was clearly annoyed we were still there. This sad fact is also universal on all but the best controlled beats .
