I spent a very enjoyable 3 hrs working my way up this beat. Conditions were 4 deg, light snow and water level good. Not a fly in sight unsurprisingly, so very pleased with my 3 WBT all taken on a size 16 PTN gold head fished below a Klink NZ style. All fish were about 6 inches. I was using a 7ft 3wt which seemed about right. Despite its size there are some very deep pools which just cry big fish and I would have loved to bounced some bugs through them CZ style so if you can be bothered to carry a few rods with you then worth a go. I bought some knee pads for today's session and they really came in handy.
The only downsides to this beat are that towards the top there is quite a few tyres, pallets and other evidence of humans. Also I shared the beat with a boy coarse fishing and a found a bag a ground bait further down so I worry that river gets a lot more fishing (and not always fair either) than the foundation think.
But for less than a tenner I think this beat is a well worth a look. When the temp starts to rise so will the fish and I suspect you could take a lot of wild fish here.

Beat:The Rectory Fishery

Enjoyed an hour putting a heavy fly through the Rectory Pool - no luck. Hatch of LDO and other flies drifting down the river with just the odd rise. Good to be back on the river.

Beat:Pwll y Faedda near Erwood
Fishing:All Species (in season)
No. of Anglers:1
2 x trout 12-13 inches on Tungsten Hare's Ear nymph, 12 x out of season grayling 9-15 inches on spiders.
Fairly high river and clear, very cold, water, that persistent and horrible east wind as always lately, showers of snow and icing of rod rings all through. Trout very reluctantly prepared to take a deep swum nymph; grayling apparently more than happy to play ball and rise in numbers to a spider... but of course grayling not wanted in late March. Given the unpleasant conditions I left around one o'clock, up to which time I had not seen a single dark olive on the surface.

Beat:The Eyton Beat
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:1
Very cold, intermittent snow. Water was coloured with poor visibility, only one fish seen - rising amongst a knot of branches in the thickly wooded part of the beat and impossible to reach. An attractive stretch and looks worth returning to when it's warm. The map may need updating as sheep fencing means that there is no access to much of the Southern bank. This isn't really a problem though as the river is so small.

Beat:Dinas
Fishing:Trout (River)

I feel sorry for the fish on this beat - we saw goosanders, cormorants, herons and a lot of evidence of otters. This may sound like an excuse for not catching anything but the fish were very spooky and often in difficult lies to get a fly over them. However despite the temperatures 3-4c and snow flurries we did see some fish rising to the lunchtime hatch and some good size fish at that. I think I have to go back to the drawing board with regard to my fly tying!! Lovely beat, now my third visit, hope it warms up soon!
