With very little water in the river it made for an interesting day. 10 fish caught between the three of us, the largest a brownie of 10oz and a grayling of 1lb (all returned). Abernant is a stunning location to spend a days fishing.

River low and clear but guess what? It rained - most of the day! Just that nuisance type welsh rain, not enough to affect the river but enough to wet us through!

Fishing was tough. A steady stream of brook duns and sporadic olives and pale wateries throughout the day kept the fish interested but they were very spooky! 4 fish between us - 3 small ones and one Penpont Porker of 17 inches - a very well conditioned fish. The fish are all there but the water is so low that in places they are lying in little more than their own depth so extreme caution is needed for success - and fish under the trees!

First thanks to the gentleman who arrived 10 mins after me but agreed to go to another beat - hope he had a good day, because I did! Nothing in the morning despite lot of fly life including some mayfly. Some rises from about 2.00, and the para. Adams worked well exploring the water. Returned 6 to 10" and 1 at 14", and missed as many again. Great day despite the low water.

In spite of very low water I had an enjoyable few hours meandering up to Michaelchurch. Fish were moving in most of the pools and seemed keen to feed. Finished with 10 fish up to 10oz all on a dry Adams. Great fun, but rain is needed.

I had intended to fish the lower part of the stream but arrived just too late - see below under Lower Grywne Fawr report - and no I didn't have a good day! In spite of a good deal of fly life mayflies, brook duns (I think) and medium and small olives and midges I only saw one rise all day. After several attempts I got him to take a Griffiths gnat, a 8" 'specimen'.
Still it was a very pleasant day and a beautiful spot. I shall get up earlier next time.

A good day for fishing some sun but generally overcast
Few fish seen moving, moderate hatch of brown jobs (sedge) middle day and again about 3pm. Water quite low. JW had 4 fish none retained, on I think nymphs. I had 2, again returned, one on a bibio the second on an Irish salmon fly (wet)with a green body and mallard wing, I think called a sooty olive. Quite difficult to decide how to fish this most attractive water.

Weather mild and cloudy. River showing its bones. Fished top beat a.m. Little rising. Just 2x 8" trout and some salmon parr to small beaded usk naylor pattern. Fished lower section p.m. Two types of mayfly hatching sporadically at 4pm approx. Mainly ephemera danica and a few poss. e.vulgata. Caught 2 more small ones then 2 x 1 1/4lbs on large grey mayfly emerger. Good sport in wonderful surroundings. Will be back. Many thanks to WUF and Glanusk staff.

I had an enjoyable few hours at Wyebank. The croys make it very fishable even in such low water. Hooked and lost a fish just above the third croy on a yellow shrimp fly. Many thanks.

Blustery and drizzly with low water conditions. Very little rising all day but caught 3 nice trout with largest at 1.25lb. All caught on a iron blue dun. Beautiful part of the river to spend the day on, with plenty of water variety, ideal for a novice like me.
