A bright sunny day but the breeze was cold at times. There was no hatch of any significance from 10:30 to 4:30 and I was unable to conect with a fish. A number were seen but they were very easily frigghtened and the one fish that I did manage to creep up on ignored my offering completely before swiming off into the deep. The clearance work undertaken at the end of last year is clearly visible and the beat is very pleasant and easy to fish. Thanks.

I caught no fish! There was no activity in the morning, but a small hatch of iron blue occurred around lunchtime and around 6-8 trout started rising. I failed will all!

Water level very low, not really worth fishing but casting practice was required post Christmas and the weather was so nice. One good fish hooked on the dry fly in the deepest pool, 8 inch (returned), but most fish were keeping out of the sun. Best part of the day was chatting to a fellow angler and watching the classic cars go by!
Note for WUF, great job on the ‘pruning’, casting much easier now but half a days rubbish clearing would be appreciated!

Lovely weather and a great location but sadly another blank. Only saw a few rises and had a couple of bites but failed to connect. Maybe it will be better later in the year?

No fish caught. Saw only one rising fish all day. Access to banks on western end of beat not very easy - was with 10 year old son and not wearing waders. Not a problem, but would have been good to know. Himalayan balsam abundant in places - is there a control strategy on the Lugg?

On a lovely, warm spring day hoping to tempt some trout to the surface. Hard going with no hatch to mention and nothing rising at all. Very little moving and trout still feel a month or so off, but I can't fault an early season "practice" day in the beautiful Crai valley.
