Lured by rising fish and not having fished for trout for years, I took 50 minutes off to have a cast in the Ferry landing 8 trout to 1lb and 4 nice grayling to a small dry sedge.....back to work again.

Many thanks for organising access to this famous beat. Shared the fishings with another WUF rod and Ghillie was very helpful and kind to show us around. Several good sized Salmon seen but maddeningly could not get them to take in the bright hot conditions. Got a nice sun tan on my forearm though. Thanks for all your hard work as usual.

Saturday saw the first of the trout courses for the year, we had three attendees. During the day we covered traditional wet fly techniques and Czech nymphing.

All in all nine fish were caught with everyone catching something. The best fish was a beautifully conditioned but out of season Grayling that came out of a very fast shallow run during demonstration of Czech nymphing.

The odd fish could be seen moving through out the day and although I saw non hatching, plenty of Grannom were on the water

First time on this beat. A few grannom and olives but not many fish moving to them (same further upstream towards Abergavenny) in the hot, bright conditions. Just 3 trout, biggest 7" to cdc emerger patterns. I will return to fish the beat when the weather is better. The top half looked potentially great trout water.

Caught just the one but it was a beautie, 1lb 10oz and in stunning condition. Had three other takes from smaller fish on a CDC LDO, including one of ~1lb but didn't hook them. Few rises and they petered out so I put on a small olive baetis nymph, thought I'd lucked out until I had one of those 'Damn I've hooked a rock...hold on it's moving' moments! Decent numbers of LDOs hatching through the afternoon, also the odd larger fly (also saw some big 'stoneclinger' husks on water surface - possibly even March browns?). Very pretty beat and a nice day day out - thanks!

This was the first time at the estate and I can only say it was a fantastic day, all of the team from the estate were very friendly and helpful.

We had 6 trout in total between 10" and 16 " all were returned. Surprisingly on such a warm day there was very little fly activity, all the fish were taken on various gold headed nymph, with smaller fish snatching at small olives.

I would thoroughly recommend the estate as a place to visit.

An interesting day, spent the morning searching for fish with no avail until I switched to summer tactics then I had six fish from one run in quick succession. The best of which measured 22-24 inches. Over the course of the day I had another couple of fish.

No hatch to speak of all day and I did not see a fish rise.
