Area:Lower Wye
Beat:Wyesham
Fishing:Salmon
No. of Anglers:2
Saw plenty of Salmon moving through the lower beats, nothing would interest them though. Unfortunately swap over at 1pm left us with the majority of time in the uppermost beat which was very difficult and no sign of anything.

No joy despite a few rises from the lower half of the beat. Conected with a tiny tiddler but not much else. Beautiful weather although the river was very low and is in desperate need of some healthy rainfall.

5 brown trout (C&R) - 5~8" caught on black gnat emerger/olive klinkhammer. Plenty of fish rising in the afternoon, many missed takes....unbelievable really. Promising little stream. Needs a clean-up...plenty of litter & debris around.

Beat:The Eyton Beat

Very bright day, clear skies no cloud, light breeze. 2 brown trout both about half a pound and one small grayling. Fish rising intermittently to black flies. Fish caught on an artificial hawthorn fly. A fair number of fish seen but difficult to catch due to the conditions. This is a lovely stretch of river which I had to myself all day. The upper part of the beat above the weir is difficult to access and even more difficult to cast on in the wooded area. There were many large shoals of fry in the margins which seems a healthy sign.

Beat:Beacons Reservoir
Fishing:Trout (River)

No fish caught, had one pull all day. Weather hot, not a cloud in the sky and the wind blew all day towards the dam end. We only saw a few fish rise all day. We tried all convenient spots around the reservoir, this is a very good hike.

A beautiful beat on the Upper Wye, which was less productive than I had expected. It was a windy day with bright sun; very few fish were rising so I fished mainly with nymphs. One had to work hard for the fish - 5 were caught and returned (2 trout which were less than 1/2 lb each, 2 small grayling and one salmon smolt). A better fish was hooked and lost after a brief tussle. However, it was a lovely day in beautiful countryside.

Area:Middle Wye
Beat:Foy Bridge
Fishing:Trout (River)
Not fishing today but merely enjoying a fine afternoon along the Wye. Amazed to see huge shoals of Shad making their annual pilgrimage upstream. In thirty minutes many hundreds, if not thousands, passed my viewpoint. Also spotted a very large Pike with her escorts, and to cap it all off a Perch that must have been nudging three pounds. Wow, what a river we have.

Beat:Dinas
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:1
My first time on this beat and I was delighted to see rising fish from the off. With the river really low and clear I was assisted with some cloud cover until mid afternoon and ended up with 8 fish.
The highlight was 2 beautifull fish taken on consecutive casts and both a fraction under 20". All fish taken on small dries with 15` leader.
