Despite the sunshine, the water was quite cold and there was only a very short rise about 3 pm for less than half an hour. 0 fish were caught. A beautiful beat but wading would be extremely challenging in high or coloured water

Warm clear day after a very cold night. Set up around 11am with good hatch of LDO & Grannom, both of which continued through to 5pm. Caught 1 to the net, a very healthy 1 1/4 lbs, returned. Missed loads including hooking and losing 2 very sizeable specimens. Fished the duo upstream most of the day. Fish were taking the surface fly and the nymph. Fantastic day!!

Grannom hatch reduced by a cold and strengthening downstream north-westerly most of the day, but in between the gusts in the sun in the morning, they were emerging. Some LDOs braved the wind later. Very few fish rising all day but rising and non-rising trout and grayling taken on HE emerger. Most fish taken on PTN, weighted grannom pupa and Greenwell's Spider. 25 fish in all at the end of the session. Frozen hands reminded me that summer is definitely not here yet!

Beat:R44 Abbeydore Tan House Farm
Fishing:Trout (River)

15-20 trout of 8-10 inches and missed half as many again! One on GRHE nympph and the rest on a hare's ear emerger. Lovely weather conditions although river a little cloudy. Very little fly and few rises, so most fish tempted up from the bottom! Good fun but frustrating at times since the whole beat is still in dire need of a haircut.

An enjoyable day at Dan-y-Parc on Monday. A heavy grannom hatch in the morning left us scratching our heads as we failed to trouble the scorers, but in the afternoon the olives started and fish were still rising to them as we packed to leave for home at 6.30pm. In total 6 superbly conditioned trout fell to a jingler, with many more missed due to poorly timed strikes. All were over 1lb with the best more than 2lb. Great fishing on a fabulous beat.
