First day of the season! 8C max temp. Hard to tell when the mist ended and the drizzle began. No wind. River a little high and fast but running clear. A couple of hours speculating with a PTN but action started around 13:00 and lasted for an hour. Olives and tiny white beasties (not sure correct name) hatching in the slower water of Llanoberry Pool. Fish rising all over the place! Three to the net on size 18 Grey Duster; dropped a few more and missed several takes. Need a couple more trips to get my eye in. All fish in excellent condition for so early in the season.

2nd session at Foy Bridge this week. Steady rain so settled under the brolly for the day. Worth mentioning that I was in last swim on Hole-in-the-wall bank. Steps down to river we’re just cut outs in banking and were VERY slippery so take care!
Started at 7:30am. Plenty of knocks and soon had First Chub on the bank just under 3lbs on Krill Boilie.
Nothing more on various baits. Then tried Mothers Pride. PB Chub 5lbs 11oz. One more small one to finish my first trip to the Wye

1 Barbel and no Chub between two Anglers in reasonable conditions, very disappointing. I believe the River is suffering badly due to the well documented pollution issues

Wednesday 2 March river up from yesterday half metre to 2 metres. Only had one barbel. Had some bits but must be line bites could not hook them. Still a lovely day to be out on the bank. Only fished top field. Will be back soon.

River at 1.73 but falling. Colour good. Temperature good, although easterly wind. No one told the fish. We did all catch a chub though but was expecting far more. No wasted day on the Wye though.
