New to the fishery. Had a quick look at Beat two left bank via old pumping station - very wet and challenging access. Will bring machetes and possibly a chainsaw next time. Anglers on the heavier side would do well to update their health insurance before crossing the bendy plank bridge. Moved on to beats 3,4,5,6 left bank.

Torrential downpours and windy most of the day but managed to fish the beginning of the fab looking beat 5 for a few hours before the shelter of the car versus fishing and hypothermia won through. Caught a beautifully conditioned Barbel 8.5 lb (first cast!) on 10mm Halibut pellet and a equally nice 3.5 lb Chub on the same bait. Met a couple of very friendly Salmon anglers equally soaked. One of whom was aged 80 and striding along the bank like a gazelle! Will return.

River rising rapidly to 1'6" plus after heavy overnight and continuing rain. One pull in Mill Race, one fish on momentarily in neck of Rectory, close to the island in quiet (relatively!) water. Became very coloured and unfishable by the end of the day.

River was low and clear, but an overcast day that was dry on arrival, but soon started raining and didn't stop until I left at 17.30. Fished the first swim opposite the houses and started with double hair-rigged sweetcorn with a 30g open ended feeder holding bottom. First cast saw a 1lb fiesty chub trying to pull rod off its rest. The next 3 fish were barbel of 1lb and then 2 around 6-7lb, not a bad first hour.

A quiet spell on corn meant a change was coming, but on lifting the rod without a sign of a bite, only to find a fish hooked that tore off downstream, that nothing was going to stop, it stripped a good 50m of line before finally breaking the hooklength - I presume a foolhooked barbel.

Corn was being ravaged by chublets (all under 1lb) so a change to garlic spam immediately attracted 2 further 6-7lb barbel before at about 3pm a PB barbel of 11-04 fell to the same method.
Bites dried up towards the end probably because rain made groundbait too sloppy to stay in feeder, so feed reduced?

Absolutely soaked by the end but an unforgettable day on a great venue.

Top swim the most productive, though some issues with loosing fish to cut offs on snags. Chub very active, ranging from chublets to 5lb fish.

Slow day, river low and didn’t start rising till early evening. 1 barbel of 9lb caught late on, another lost at a similar time. Plenty of chub activity but mostly small fish, some between 2 and 4lb. Other barbel a small fish of 1lb.
