Overcast in the morning, sunny in the afternoon, stiff breeze most of the day which made float fishing awkward and only produced one chublet. We all fished the beach and a low summer level made the whole river easily accessible. 2 fished morning till tea and 2 lunch till 8 with a civilised pub lunch in the middle but this did disrupt the morning anglers.
One swim produced 3 of the barbel, the one above produced the other one (biggest 9.04 to Mr P on his antique cane rod and Mitchell 300 - he nearly became Caradoc pole vault champion) and all the fell to bomb and pellet right across. The rest of the beach was patchy with not many chub showing. Only one family on the beach and they stayed upstream out of the way.
I may figure out how to fish it in another few goes, but a lovely day nonetheless.

Really tough day! High expectations due to a trip here just a week ago, which seemed to be confirmed by all 3 of us catching first cast around 7 am.

After an early flourish, nothing!! River switched off, no sign of any movement and no matter what we tried we couldn't locate them.

Still, a beautiful beat which is really well maintained with great access.

The river was lower than last time I fished, and unfortunately so was the interest in my bait.
2 large Chub, and one barbel all caught towards the end of the day.
I only fished the afternoon.
Pellet and feeder tactics.
Despite I had booked 2 rods, my mate couldn't make it.

Would love to know the stocking quantity of the usk at the moment or if they are even stocking. fished here for 30 years this is the worst I've seen it. full of perch most I've seen but with the lack of numbers fishing its only going to get worse cost £56 for me and my 2 boys to catch over 40 perch.
