Challenging but enjoyable fishing. River low in places and very bright - combined with the first chilling of autumn provided few rising fish. Would recommend fishing the lower section later in the day where sun falls and there is more fly life.
We recorded six cormorants feeding in the middle section.
Quite stunningly beautiful scenery in which to fish - one of the country's gems. Other river users, walkers etc, very polite and considerate.

The river was so low that you could see most of the river bed at the end peg up from the railway piers. Unable to lug my gear up to the top of the beat for deeper water, I gave it a couple of hours before moving off for pastures new.

Water was coloured and river in spate after overnight rain so I gave up after an hour. Transferred to Claerwen Reservoir instead and caught three pristine wild brownies!

The Gods were against us. The coldest morning of the year (3 degrees) and pouring with rain. We walked the walk but didnt talk the talk. When we arrived at the swims, exhausted, we knew there were fish there because a Cormorant was busy eating them right in front of us. DC junior lost two Barbel on the snags and caught a 5 pounder on the last cast of the day. I caught an 8 pounder from my only bite of the day.

Fantastic day. Fished blind but caught some lovely fish. Nice to meet Terry Ward who runs the beat, very pleasant. Saw plenty of salmon jumping also.

One fish seen, no takes or pulls, water very clear and low, needs a good downpour to flush it out and get fish moving.
