A great location, easy to find and good parking in Gilberts farm yard.
The river Lugg was at a good level, it was raining in the morning so used a medium sink with north country spiders. I had one decent Grayling and then once the sun came out I went with a floating line and used a dry green wells and got 2 nice brown trout.
I would certainly fish this location again.

A very low and clear river hardly good conditions for barbel fishing. However with the river being like this for most of the season it doesn't take long to build a picture of where the fish are. Getting the baiting and position of the bait is of great importance. We didn't arrive until 12.45pm and it didn't take long before J landed a beautiful 10lb 4oz barbel. Weighed of course. Following on from this the fish fed really well and between them they continued to catch chub and barbel. None of the large chub put in an appearance the largest was 4lbs 4oz.
T did land a very good barbel of 9lbs 11oz. A few other 8lbers and high 7lbers were caught and all weighed. This was our very first time on the river Wye barbel fishing and we had a great day. A big thanks to Don and the Wye & Usk Foundation.

River very low and bank had dense vegetation. Only fished for about an hour down stream from the bridge and had 1 small OOS trout on nymph.
Saw a chap in waders whilst returning to the bridge and thought I had some competition - then his mate appeared! Not anglers but Welsh Water surveyors doing river flow measurements. Said the river was in drought and serious rain was needed this winter.

River very low. We gave up salmon fishing and turned are attention to trout at the end of this beat. This beat really does have some potential to be a nice place to fish. The thing that spoils it for both myself and fellow rods is the canoeists. It's all very well us fisherman having rules to address canoeists by, and rightly so, but who educates them. Everyone paddled right through the pools and infact my father in law who is a little hard of hearing nearly got mowed down by one lady cannoeists whilst he was trout fishing. The chap is 6 foot 3 with a beacon of white hair so not sure how she managed that.
We enjoyed catching the fingerlings on pheasant tails but called it a day after about 3hours.
