Caught chub to 1lb, dace and bleak steadily all afternoon on the waggler. Expected the barbel fishing to be hard and was proved right by a biteless couple of hours in the evening.

Hoped I would see some more water in the river after the lightning storms we had in Worcestershire the day before, but the level was still very low and the cloud cover quickly burnt off to produce another hot, bright day. Sporadic rises from fish through the beat, but tough to find a consistent riser during the day. Picked up a couple of little brownies on leaded nymphs in the deeper pools but struggled with the dry fly until dusk. Fish started rising properly as the light faded and had another 4 fish best about 1/2 pound on a small klinkhammer fished in a couple of the faster glides at the top of the beat.
Saw two of the fattest Kingfishers I have ever seen which are obviously feasting on the large numbers of Parr in the shallows. Unfortunately the beat was disturbed by illegal canoeists who despite my explaining the situation, did not leave, but were at least polite and apologetic.

Fished the woods from 7am to 5pm. Barbel remained elusive on this trip but managed to get 5 chub, best 5lb 6oz.

Largest fish was chub of 4lbs. Grayling to 1.5lbs. Trout to 1.25lbs. River very low but fish shoaled in streamier well oxygenated runs.

In hot, dry conditions the water was extrenely low and I was unable to tempt anything, though a few trout were around in the deepest of the pools. This beat is in serious need of bank maintenance - there are lots of overhanging trees, so side casting is needed for most of the beat and there is a fallen tree about half way upstream completely blocking access.

10 chub between us in 9 hours on pellet and meat. River was drastically low. Only managed to find 2 accessible swims after nearly 2 hours searching because of surface weed and overgrown bankside. Very disappointed with the venue. Wont be going back.

10 Chub

River very low and gin clear, weather extremely hot. Hottest day of the year apparently. 1 barbel taken on the quivertip from behind the island. 2 chub lost on the stick trying to bully them out from a nearside snag. Very hard work. A couple of nice carp with their backs out of the water off the island. Nice stretch of river but like all rivers at the minute in desperate need of water.

I was only able to fish from 10-00am to 5-00pm. Very hot and sunny. Not a proper bite all day. The river was so low the weed was a carpet of white flowers. I think the details of which islands, and from where on them you are allowed to fish could possibly do with a little clarification if possible please. To access them you would need waders but the faster water(and I think you need to find it in these conditions) did seem to be on their far side. Please don't think I'm being critical at all as I believe the Foundation do an excellent job and enable us to fish in fantastic locations we wouldn't even know about.
