A blessedly overcast but warm day, with the water warmish at 16 degrees, and holding 6 inches on the local guage. As per OB's report from just downstream at P-y-F, the grayling were in obliging mood with 25 fish taken before 5pm. Not much fly all day - just a few yellow mays, some sedges and a few small olives. Some fish rose off and on but were mainly oncers, and most fish that were caught were non-risers, including the small trout and parr. All fish taken on a small dark olive emerger. Thought of trying spiders and nymphs, but given recent experiences at Abernant and Doldowlod, it seemed unnecessary to change, on the principle that if it works for now, don't fix it! Grayling of 10, 12 and 14" well represented so, as usual, better year-class succession in prospect here compared with further up at Doldowlod.

Weather warm and overcast, river low and clear, not many obvious rises. Late hatch still didn't cause much visible surface activity so fished dry in the faster water on down stream section. Used size 16 Klinkhammer in the main riffles and glides. Missed as many fish as brought to hand. One perfect 12" WBT and a smaller 6". Others were small 4" Graying. Used a 6'6", 3 weight rod. So much fun on light tackle. Access to fishing difficult due to overgrown banks and surrounding fields.

Good days fishing, the trout were lined up and ready to pounce our flies. Although the fish were not big 6-12inch's,they were good fun on light gear and the pool under the road and down the bottom pool were boiling with fish. F-flies+emergers seem to do the buisness. Fished this beat twice in Last month, well worth a visit. Parking+access v.good.

As per 26 August, the fish stayed very safe, with little sign of any wanting to come to the surface. Nothing came near my fly. But it was a very pleasant afternoon with my son.

A very cloudy but warm day. Fishing very challenging but got 3 Barbel between 5lb and 8lb and nice a chub to just over 3lb. A difficult day but always a pleasure to fish a beautiful river. Canoeists were very polite and helpful today as well a big bonus.

Lovely day and a beautiful stretch of river. Some fish rising but difficult to tempt with dry fly. Sedge and small duns about plus some yellow mays. Tried most things but perhaps my presentation was a bit too poor for the low, clear water and I probably could have gone finer. Had an 8 inch fish on a size 12 nymph when I tried to re-cast at one point. Nothing, then, until dusk came to my rescue when, in the failing light, a 10 - 11 inch fish sipped down a tups. When tightening into this fish the end of my vintage 1936 Hardy split cane rod snapped off!! It must have been ready to go. So 2 hard won fish.
