Enjoyable day despite the thunder! There were a number of campers present by the river which made it quite 'busy'and not particularly peaceful. Not much fish activity, one brownie (about 8") caught on PTN on slower stretch.

Beat:Courtfield

Fishing:Coarse

No. of Anglers:3

The 3 of us booked Courtfield and were looking forward to a long weekends fishing. However things went from bad to worse, only one fish caught and the changeable weather made things worse. Our only issue with this beat is that there are not many fishable swims and the banks are almost impossible to tackle in the wet.

Beat:Lower Canon Bridge

Fishing:Coarse

Fished Lower Canon Bridge for the first time, river very low and clear and was hard going all day, only 1 eel and 1 chub caught all day, 1 barbel hooked but managed to cut me off on a rock.
This beat is a very long walk and it is well worth paying the farmer £5 to take you down to the river and bring you back and he was a very nice guy.

Nil Return.
Fished from 12 till 4pm near Car Park point and upstream for half-mile. No sign of trout rising etc. Good casting practice for me - and son. First time fly fisher. River fast-flowing and very deep in places. Plenty of natural flies in afternoon. Friendly woman at Monnow Valley Studio, very helpful. We may use a guide next time to find the trout and learn small river fishing tactics. Very enjoyable afternoon. WUF service excellent. Thank you. This return also for second rod, R W.

Area:Lower Wye

Beat:Wyebank

Fishing:Coarse

No. of Anglers:1

No fish caught, feeder and pellets produced only one typical barbel bite which failed to connect. A disappointing day. Water level low, previous experience of the river had better fishing when water colored.
